It uses core, and its a monopoly on the VG aftermarket. Its material, and baffles added to an OEM pan. I could understand that price with no core, or being made from scratch. But that price seems a little high IMO, i was thinking in the 240-400 range. For Example when compared to ARC - new in box for 350z oil pan (a v6 engine oil pan) is about $600 MSRP, can be found for $500 from many vendors. Not modified from stock .Also has heat sink fins, and extra fitting for temp sensor(which i dont see in the image of the 300zx SZ oil pan).
So by rough comparison of features and construction, ..........i think the price sucks. 650$ is quite a suprise.
